Ella's mom gives her the summer camp guide to pick out a fun camp to try. Ella doesn't really look at the guide, and randomly picks Camp Rock without reading the description. What she thinks will be a fun music camp turns out to be something totally different. After a long day of camp, she is given an assignment to complete at home and bring back to camp. She ends up creating something she never expected. When she brings her creation back to camp to show the others they aren't impressed.
